Wyoming Insurance Prelicensing Information

Updated April 25, 2025

Requirements Overview

Wyoming does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, EducUp highly recommends that you complete an educational course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How to Get Your License

1

Step 1: (optional)

Complete an optional prelicensing course that helps prepare you to take and pass your licensing exam.

2

Step 2

Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider, Pearson VUE, at least twenty-four (24) hours before your desired examination date. The fastest way to schedule your exam is to do so online at Pearson VUE or call (866) 936-7786. Your exam may be taken at a physical PSI examination center or via a remote online proctored exam.

3

Step 3

Take and pass your state licensing exam. On the day of your appointment, you must bring with you two valid forms of government issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military I.D., etc.) one of which must contain your name and a photograph. You will not be able to take your exam if these requirements are not met. NOTE: Candidates taking a remotely proctored exam must select to end both the exam portion and survey portion of the test in order to receive your on-screen results and emailed score report. See Step 3 above for requirements needed. When you complete your exam a score report will be provided marked “pass” or “fail.” If you pass you will receive more information on how to apply for your license at that time. Note: If part of a combination exam is failed the entire combination exam must be taken again and at least a 70% must be achieved on the entire combination examination in order to be licensed in that line of authority.

4

Step 4

Apply for your license online with NIPR and complete other licensing requirements such as fingerprinting. Upon receipt of your licensing application and fees, the Department will send a fingerprint packet the address specified. Applicants must make arrangements with their local law enforcement to obtain fingerprints. There may be a fee charged by law enforcement. Further directions regarding fingerprinting and background check information will be found in the packet delivered by the Department.

5

Step 5

Maintain your license by being aware of your continuing education requirements. Most insurance licenses must be maintained by completing a certain number of credit hours of continuing education each licensing period. EducUp offers CE courses that will help you comply with your state’s requirements. Click here to view your state’s education rules and stay on top of your license.
