If you want to know about pre-licensing, visit [Pre-licensing Requirements](/en/state-insurance-requirements/vermont). ### Courses Available Loading courses... ### Required Hours Vermont licensed producers are required to take 24 hours of CE, including 3 hours of Ethics, every 2-year license term. Vermont’s license term is 2 years ending March 31, in odd numbered years. No carry over credits are allowed and courses cannot be taken more than once in a reporting period. NOTE: Be sure to complete all of your CE credit hours BEFORE submitting your license renewal application. ### Category Restrictions Producers may take an approved course in any line of authority to obtain their CE credits, but it is recommended that they take courses pertaining to their license type. No more than 6 hours can be related to insurance agency management in a renewal period. ### Special Training #### LONG-TERM CARE PARTNERSHIP TRAINING Before a producer can sell or solicit Long-Term Care Insurance, they must complete a state approved, one-time 8-hour Long-Term Care Training course. Producers are also required to take 2 hours of Vermont specific Medicaid training, which may be included in the initial 8-hour course or taken on its own. Producers must then complete a 4-hour ongoing training requirement on or before March 31 of odd-numbered calendar years in order to stay in compliance. #### ANNUITY BEST INTEREST TRAINING Vermont licensed producers must complete a one-time state approved 4-hour Annuity Suitability Best Interest course before selling, soliciting or negotiating any annuity products. #### FLOOD INSURANCE TRAINING Vermont licensed Property/Casualty and Personal Lines producers who sell National Flood Insurance Policies are required to take a one-time 3-hour course on Flood Insurance. ### Course Presentation - CERTIFICATE EXAM – Licensees are required to pass the certificate exam with a 70% or better. - STUDY BY TOPIC QUIZZES – EducUp recommends that all Study by Topic Quizzes are passed with a 70% or better. - ATTESTATION – The attestation must be completed following the certificate exam. ### Certificates of Completion Your certificate of completion will be processed within two (2) business days and can be downloaded/printed from the "View Certificate(s)" link in the course launch portal. Completions are normally reported to the state entities within two (2) business days of the certificate having been issued. There is a state charge of $1.60 per credit hour to report your completion. This fee will be charged prior to accessing the certificate exam. ### Non-Resident Producers A non-resident producer who satisfies the continuing education requirements of their home state will be deemed compliant with Vermont’s CE requirement. Non-residents of Vermont may satisfy NAIC LTC course requirements in another state, but they will need to take a 2-hour Vermont Medicaid course before they can begin soliciting products.
