Alaska ## Alaska Insurance Continuing Education Courses and Requirements Updated November 17, 2025EducUp Provider #1020 This information is for continuing education. If you want to know about pre-licensing, visit [Pre-licensing Requirements](/en/state-insurance-requirements/alaska). ### Courses Available Loading courses... ### Required Hours Alaska licensed Producers and Adjusters are required to take 24 hours of Continuing Education, including 3 hours of Ethics, every 2-year license term. The renewal date is the last day of the licensee's birth month, based on odd or even birth year The first renewal will not be due until the licensee has been licensed for at least 24 months. A maximum of 8 excess credit hours can be carried forward into the next licensing period. A course may not be taken for credit more than once in a 2-year license term. NOTE: Be sure to complete all of your CE credit hours BEFORE submitting your license renewal application. ### Category Restrictions Licensees may take an approved course in any line of authority to obtain their CE credits, but it is recommended that they take courses pertaining to their license type. No more than 8 credit hours may be in management, business organization or environment and these credit cannot carry over. Excess Ethics credits will carry over as general credits. ### Special Training #### Long-Term Care Training Before a Producer can sell or solicit Long-Term Care Insurance, they must complete an 8-hour course in Long-Term Care Training. Producers must then complete a 4-hour ongoing training requirement every 2 years following the initial completion date of the 8-hour training. #### Annuity Best Interest Training Alaska licensed producers must complete a state approved 4-hour Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course before selling, soliciting or negotiating any annuity products. #### Flood Insurance Training Alaska licensed producers who sell National Flood Insurance Policies are required to take a one-time 3-hour course on Flood Insurance. ### Course Presentation - PROGRESSIVE – Licensees must progress through the course by topic. - CERTIFICATE EXAM – Licensees are required to pass the certificate exam with a 70% or better. - STUDY BY TOPIC QUIZZES – EducUp requires that all Study by Topic quizzes be passed with at least a score of 1%. - LICENSEE ATTESTATION – The licensee attestation must be completed following the certificate exam. ### Certificates of Completion Your certificate of completion will be processed within two (2) business days and can be downloaded/printed from the "View Certificate(s)" link in the course launch portal. Completions are normally reported to the state within two (2) business days of the certificate having been issued. The state charges $1.00 per credit hour in order to report completions. This fee will be charged prior to accessing the certificate exam. ### Non-Resident Producers Non-residents who have completed their CE requirement in their home state will be deemed compliant for Alaska’s CE requirement. Non-resident Adjusters are exempt if they have completed the requirements in their home state and remain in good standing; however, being licensed and remaining good standing in their home state does not deem the producer compliant if there is no adjuster CE requirement. If that is the case, adjusters must comply with Alaska’s adjuster CE requirement. ### CE Exemptions The following are exempt from Alaska CE requirements: - Non-residents who have met their home state CE requirements - Producers who were licensed prior to January 1, 1980 - An individual who holds a temporary or retired license - A producer who holds a limited lines or travel insurance license ### License Renewal #### License Renewal Producers who have satisfied the renewal requirements can file a renewal application at [SIRCON](http://www.sircon.com/) or [NIPR](http://www.nipr.com/) and follow the online renewal instructions.
